News From February Executive


The Social Issues Committee to consider the issue of pre-school van services and investigate and report on access to services for the elderly in rural areas.

The cultural committee will be asked to consider fundraising to sponsor a number of children in the Moorambilla voices choir annually.


A grant of $20,000 to be given to Moorambilla Voices to fund their 2017 “Cultural Immersion Program and 17 poles for 17 communities program.


$5,000 will be donated towards the ACWW South Pacific Area President’s travel fund.

A $10,000 donation will be given to assist with the expenses of Island delegates to the 2017 ACWW South Pacific Area Conference in New Plymouth, New Zealand.

A three year membership of ACWW be paid for the Samunnat Nepal organisation should they agree to become a member organisation.

Donations paid to ACWW are as follows: Life Member donation $16; Commitment to ACWW $2,300; Coins for Friendship $13,174.30; ACWW General Fund $3,245.10; ACWW Projects $886.93; “Book of Graces” donations $10; Women Walk the World $266; Tea Time $106 and Clean Water for All $447.20. Total $20,451.53.

$2,000 was exchanged from the 2016 ACWW Foreign Coin Collection. Thanks to all members who donated their old coins and notes/foreign currency for exchange. The program will continue for 2017, collecting stamps for Mary Bowman and coins for Lyn Braico.


Executive has accepted the nomination of Noelene Grainger for the position of Honorary Editor of the Journal.


CWA members may be known by their preferred names (both family and given name) in legal documents and meetings. Honorific titles are not needed, unless specifically requested by the individual member. Some occasions such as the opening ceremony of the State AGM may require more formality.

The CWA of NSW will form a 100 Year Anniversary Committee of five members to assist in planning for the 2022 State Conference and associated events. Notice inviting members to apply and outlining the selection criteria will be sent to all members shortly via email. A notice will also be placed in the Journal.

A subcommittee has been appointed to work on the CWA structure, specifically focusing on the areas of Group boundaries, the size of State Executive and State Committees. The subcommittee consists of the State President, Chief Executive Officer, Membership Manager, up to two Past State Presidents and five members from the current Executive Committee – Margaret Barrett, Ruth Cargill, Tanya Jolly, Trish Stabback and Stephanie Stanhope. The sub-committee will work towards having a discussion paper for member feedback at the 2017 State Conference.


CWA will facilitate and support the delivery of the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program’s (RAMHP) Community Support Skills training through Group Council meetings.

Potts Point Grants

Grants were awarded to the following branches:

Lyndhurst, Toukley, Wallerawang-Lidsdale, Baradine, Borenore, Condobolin, Tarago, Bundanoon, Trundle, Ardlethan, Woolgoolga, Coonamble, South West Rocks, Delungra, White Cliffs, Wilberforce, Orange (partial), Bathurst and Tibooburra.


St George-Sutherland Shire Evening branch will now be known as Georges River branch.

Show Catering

Volunteer times are 9.15 am to 1.45 pm and 1.30 pm to 6.00 pm. Show dates are 6 – 19 April 2017.
All donated items for the CWA’s Tea Room (with the CWA label listing all ingredients) to State Office – Level 2, 244 Coward Street, Mascot by Friday, 31 March 2017 ready for collection.

In co-operation with the Show Catering Committee, CWA to facilitate and enable Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) to promote their services at the Royal Easter Show in 2017.

State Conference

The trial conference format proposed for 2018 to proceed as planned. The conference will be fully evaluated and that evaluation will be made available for all members to access.
