The Cultural Committee covers a range of cultural events, competitions, tours and adds some drama for CWA members.

Events are coordinated for members to participate in, from drama to art, to touring a city and learning more about its cultural mix and make up.

Competitions are run each year and these CWA activities are sponsored by our partner Scott & Broad who have been loyal supporters of the Association for many years.

In the Cultural Competitions senior refers to those over 18 (adults); junior refers to those under 18.

Cultural Book Guidelines

The following criteria should help you when compiling your Cultural Record Book, which is exactly what it is, a record of your Branch's activities throughout the year. Any overlap with International work should involve the Culture only of the Country of Study. The book should be 24 pages (12 leaves of A4) or a GNS Project Book 201 is also acceptable.

The Contents (numeric order) should be in the front cover, or the Index (in alphabetical order) inside the back cover, either is permissible. Photographs should be limited and Books must include the name of the Branch and Group. The Committee is only too willing to send the Correct Book to you should you have any difficulty in obtaining one in your area.

The Books shall be judged on the following:

  1. Presentation and Content - 30 points
  2. Member Participation - 30 points
  3. Spelling - 15 points
  4. Neatness -10 points
  5. Presentation - 10 points
  6. Contents or Index - 5 points

'Member Participation' will be judged on those who contribute to the content and who participate in Cultural activities at Branch level and Group level; keeping in mind it is permissible for one Member to compile the Book. Computer work or hand written work will be judged equally.

The closing date for Cultural Book entries is 15 November each year.
